IPad, ITouch & TV Rehab

I love summer but 3 months off school and hiatus from camp, is crazy! I noticed my kids in particular my son just turning on the TV or using his IPAD when ever he wanted, if I got distracted he could easily be there for hours possibly days!

A week ago when my husband went on a sailing trip with friends, and on his return my son sneakily grabbed his phone and was just sitting there playing games. The real explosion happened when we were all getting ready to go and see Coldplay and my son was on my husbands phone within 10 minutes of him being home, I lost my SH*T and threw the phone across the bedroom!

So we are entering screen time rehab which includes earning pocket money, we are DAY 2 and so far we are off to great start! My London friend gave me great tips that if you set rules and timers, the children are lot more rational, if they whine when their screen time is up then they lose 5mins of screen time the next day!

Here are our rules:

We would like you to earn IPAD, TV and Pocket Money. If you follow these rules you will get $5 a week and will be allowed 30 minutes of IPAD or TV Time a day.

Rules are as follows:

  • Make your beds and open blinds
  • Clean up after eating and help your guests too
  • Always have polite manners
  • Do not wake early
  • Do your homework & reading

Baby fashion & lovies

I was so grateful to receive clothes as gifts for my babies. We are a little superstitious and did not buy any clothing prior to their arrival.

I am a big fan of UK store Marks and Spencers, every time I was back in London I would bulk buy their kids clothing. Their clothes are stylish, affordable and great quality. They now offer free shipping to the US.

Here are a selection of my favorite baby outfits by Marks & Spencers. When my babies were just born they received Jellycat animals as gifts,  they soon became their lovies. I quickly learned they were a super gift, because we often forgot Spotty the Giraffe but we were guaranted to find a local store that sold Spotty which saved our life!

Hello, World!

Stroller addiction

I recently had lunch with a friend who is expecting her first baby this September.

We had a giggle at how she wants every stroller on the market, then I remembered I had a stroller addiction when I lived in Manhattan in an 1300sqft apartment. Christopher could not even walk in the apartment because of our busy stroller parking lot!

Below are selection of what my friend & I would have in our stroller parking lot - click on image to shop.

I am in love with these beautiful keepsake cases. Makes my so broody for a 3rd bubba! I love their size too as I kept more than the first scan and first month. Perfectly designed to include pockets and a removable tray to reveal further storage underneath. Made of luxurious leather and pretty lining. Meminio based in the UK create baby and wedding keespsake cases. It is the most beautiful gift for someone expecting or getting married. They personalize the cases too.

I get a two week break from my crazy Mommy

Today my 8yr old daughter left for sleepaway camp for 2 weeks. Olivia has been counting downs the days til sleepaway camp and her excitement has been out of control.

This morning she asked Alexa what time is it around 50 times. The whole Agnew gang drove Olivia to her pick up bus spot at 9.45am and her whole body was beaming with excitement. The girls on the bus from Manhattan all ran off to say Hi and also all wanted to meet her dogs!

We said our goodbyes and my voice crocked into tears and Olivia looked up and said "PLEASE Mommy its only 2 weeks"

Olivia ran on the bus and looked back at me with a huge smile, the smile that read “I get a two week break from my crazy Mommy”.

How did we pick a sleepaway camp for Olivia?

We worked with an Independent camp specialist called Melissa Post (melissa.p.post@gmail.com), she was incredible and completely understood our criteria and made the process enjoyable.

This is what we were looking for in a camp:

All Girls

Diversity

Non-religious

Uniform dress code

Only offers 4 week session

Why did we decide to send her to sleepaway camp?

We think of it as a gift to Olivia; one that allows her to have fun, create new friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime. She does not know anyone apart from a good friend from the Manhattan and we hope these new friends will become her summer sisterhood!

Where did we pick?

Camp Wicosuta, we toured the camp last summer with Olivia and loved it.  It actually exceeded our expectations. It is set in a beautiful location and the girls sleep in bunks! An abundance of activities from Dance, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis and general girls having fun! The camp has the"3 C'S": CONFIDENCE, COMPETENCE & COMMUNITY, the 3Cs were reflected in all the girls we met in addition to warmth and kindness!

Now the 2 weeks of Max begins xo

My little Darlings

Meet my little darlings, Olivia 8yrs old and Max 6yrs old. My american kids were born in Manhattan. Olivia enjoys to dance and softball and Max enjoys soccer and baseball. When my kids were born I was overjoyed but overwhelmed too, I was so grateful for the book 'The Contented Baby' by Gina Ford. Gina was a baby nurse for over 20yrs, her book helped me understand baby sleep and guided me to establishing a routine. Both kids slept from 7pm - 7am from 6 weeks old - YAY! Gina also has super website which is great resource and support group.
