NYC Restaurant Guide

I was recently in NYC and enjoyed some new fabulous restaurants, all tried & tested with friends.

New restaurant opened by Tao Group based out of Moxy Hotel, East Village. Inspired French-Mediterranean Food. The main dining room has 26-foot ceilings and there is a garden terrace with retractable roof. Great atmosphere for dinner with a friends. Highly recommend Hamachi Crudo, Salmon & Chicken.

The Crosby Hotel BarA tranquil gem in Soho. Host a meeting over afternoon tea (best they serve gluten free afternoon tea) or cocktails with friends at the bar, with gorgeous decor and loft like windows! The Crosby Hotel is part of The Firmdale Group, they gorgeous hotels in London & NYC. Open all day for breakfast, brunch, lunch & dinner or coffee, cocktails and afternoon tea.

Le JardinierDecor, food, service & atmosphere was superb. I had dinner with girlfriends and we were drooling over the amazing decor & furniture. Highly recommend Hickory Salad & Salmon.They have a small bar great to host a meeting. They are open for lunch & dinner. Great place for dinner with friends & date night.

The Fulton Jean-Georges seafood restaurant overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge located South Seaport. Windows spanning floor to ceiling to admire the beautiful view while dining. Open for Lunch, Dinner & Brunch

Pastis Meatpacking District. This New York staple, one of my favorites has re-opened round the corner from the old locaition with all the same decor & tables from the old location. Great place for Breakfast, Brunch & Dinner.

Orlando restaurants guide

Here are our restaurant recommendations in our home city. All tried & tested by us! All restaurants are kid-friendly.

Disney Area


Capa Grill  

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort  10100 Dream Tree Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32836

Great date night option but also kid friendly, they have a kids menu. You can watch the Epcot & Magic Kingdom Fireworks from their Terrace. Highly recommend Datiles, Huevos, Filet Steak with Maiz. Best cocktails, highly recommend Capa Vodka Tonic!


Wine Bar George

Disney Springs 1610 East Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

If you love wine this is the place to be. There are hundreds of wine options including hard to find ones. The food is surprising good for a wine bar. Reservation recommended, great for date night or dinner with friends.


STK Steakhouse

Disney Springs 1580 East Buena Vista Drive, Orlando, FL 32830

Orlando outpost of the famous steakhouse in New York and Miami. Reservations recommended but they take walk ins just expect a wait.


Morimoto Asia

Disney Springs 1600 East Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Great option if you like Pan-Asian cuisine. Beautifully design dining room. Reservations recommended.

Universal/Seaworld Area

This side of town is dominated by chain restaurants on International Drive. However there are some hidden gems especially if you are staying at the Ritz Carlton/JW Marriott Grande Lake property.

Whispering Creek Farm: The Kitchen

This is one of my favorite places to bring the kids. They have a giant TV showing the latest sporting events while you enjoy a wonderful wine selections and farm to table fare. No reservation needed.


Highball and Harvest

Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes 4012 Central Florida Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837

If you are not local this is a great place to try Southern cuisine with a twist. Amazing cocktails. Reservation recommended.



8255 International Dr #136, Orlando, FL 32819

A truely authentic Japanese restaurant. They have wonderful Ramen, really fresh sashimi and sushi and tons of traditional Japanese dishes to try. Reservation recommended.


Slate Orlando

Modern American menu. Great decor, open kitchen serving pizza cooked in Cooper wood oven. Cocktails, food & service are consistently good. There is a big open fireplace to enjoy.


Bar Taco

Enjoy tasty tacos and knocking back
some of the most authentic and delicious hand-crafted margaritas. Fun & super kid friendly menu. Great decor and outdoor seating.

Downtown Orlando

If you happen to be going to a show at Dr. Philip Performance Center or an Orlando Magic game at Amway, these are all in close proximity and great options.


Rusty Spoon

55 West 55 W Church St, Orlando, FL 32801

A very welcoming restaurant that serves creative american cuisine. Reservation recommended.


DoveCote Brasserie

Bank of America Center, 390 N Orange Ave #110, Orlando, FL 32801

One of the few French Bistro offered in Orlando. I love the decor, food & service is always consistent. Reservation recommended but will take walk-ins too.


Reyes Mezcalerias

821 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801

Fun Mexican restaurant. Always has a lively crowd and good Margheritas. Reservation recommended.



1809 Winter Park Rd, Orlando, FL 32803

This is one of my favorite restaurant in Orlando. It is an Omakase menu which means you eat whatever they serve. The food is ridiculously fresh and delicious. You have to make a reservation on their website and pay in advance. There’s only 9 seats at the restaurant and they are booked well in advanced. Unless your kid can sit through an 8 course meal I will leave them at home.


A’ La Cart Orlando

609 Irvington Ave, Orlando, FL 32803

A La Cart is a food truck dining experience where there is always 4-5 food trucks parked around an open lawn space and a bar that serves draft beer and wine. There are games for kids and a small baby/toddler play area inside the bar as well.

Colonial Town

If it is Asian food you are after, then you should come to Colonial Town. This area is full of Asian restaurants, all casual and affordable.


Mamak Asian Street Food

Delicious Singapore street food. Order a lot and share. My kids love the Bulgogi skewers and Roti Kanai.


Shin Jung Korean Restaurant

1638 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32803

No frill Korean barbeque but the food is great.

The cuisine is dim sum taco if there’s such a thing. Regardless it is yummy and fast.


Black Rooster Taqueria

Best Mexican food in town.


Pig Floyds

I am not a big fan of barbeque but I like Pig Floyds. The flavors of the ribs are amazing.

Baldwin Park

Lovely neighborhood surrounded by Lake Baldwin.



Great decor, good food, cocktails & super service with a great happy hour. Outdoor seating too & Kid Friendly


Sieto Sushi

Great sushi & contemporary asian food. Outdoor seating & kid friendly

Winter Park

If you want to venture out, winter park is a super charming small town 30 minutes from Universal Studio. It’s main street Park Aveue is lined with shops and restaurants.

Great wood over Pizza and pasta dishes. The meatball is to die for. Also a great spot to come for an after dinner drink. Reservation is a must on weekend.


The Ravenous Pig

565 W Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789

This Winter Park establishment just moved to a new location with an elegant dining room and a great bar area. It serves wonderful southern cuisine like shrimp & grits and pork tenderloin. Reservation recommended.



463 W New England Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789

Great family restaurant. Much more low key than Prato.



215 S Orlando Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789

Even they have many locations across the country, Hillstone at Winter Park is super special location. There’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of Rose by the lake before your dinner. Reservation recommended. The food & service is amazing once your get pass the overwhelmed hostess!



115 E. Lyman Ave. Winter Park, FL 32789

This is not your everyday spicy tuna roll kind of sushi place. Creative rolls with wonderful flavors. If you are a fan of sushi it’s a must try. Reservation recommended.

Kid-friendly NYC & CT restaurant guide

Eating out can sometimes be a challenge with kids. Here are some great kid-friendly restaurants tried and tested by our crazy family:


Shabu Katsu East Village/Astor Place, Japenese Hot Pot in the middle of the table to cook all your yummy food, my kids loved the noodles and variety of protein! 

El Vez Downtown/Battery Park, Mexican food served in fun vibrant restaurant. Close to playgrounds. Also great for big groups

Beaubourg Brasserie Battery Park/Downtown French Brasserie, with outdoor seating overlooking gardens and marina. Great menu for all the family. Brunch served Sunday. Kids can run round gardens while you enjoy Froze, Battery Park Parks & Rec outside the restaurant loan out fun board games!

Bubby's Tribeca & Highline super brunch spot, great for all the family and they cater to large groups, walk-ins only. We have never had to wait long.

Tiny's Tribeca, my kids & I have eaten here since they were able to eat! Delicious menu, they have a small outdoor area.

Ellens Stardust Diner Times Square, The home singing waiters, blasting out broadway songs during your dining experience. My kids loved it, I had to sit in a quiet room in complete silence after! BEWARE this is not for the faint hearted! Good place for a first timer visiting NYC!

Freds at Barneys Great for a Mothers Day or Birthday celebration with kids, they are great with kids and adults get to browse The Temple of Barneys!

Cecconis Dumbo Brooklyn, with outdoor seating and waterfront views of Manhattan Skyline. Jane Carousel is 30 secs from this restaurant, my kids went on solo and I could see them from my table! Superb menu, we shared family style. My kids ate calamari & pizza.

Wagamamas Gramercy This delicious UK transplant serves asian food, inspired by the flavors of japan. Delicious, service is always great! Super simple kids menu, my kids love the plain ramen, rice and fresh juice. I love it all but nearly always order a chicken cats! I was a big fan of these restaurants in London, we alway visit one when we go back!

Kawa-Ni Westport, Delicious asian inspired restaurant, my kids love this place and so do we! They have a roof terrace overlooking the water.

The Whelk Westport, Yummy seafood plus much more. Kids share a burger and and try our food too. They are opposite a ice-cream shop so kids get there dessert while we enjoy the beautiful setting.

Bar Taco Westport, fun and super kid friendly menu. Great decor and outdoor seating.

Terrain Westport, Delightful spot for brunch with or without kids, plenty of outdoor seating which overlooks their beautiful garden & home shop.

Match Burger Lobster, Westport CT, delicious Lobster & Burger joint. My daughter & I both had Slider combo which is 1 x slider & 1 x lobster roll, cracked lobster and oreo cake. Kid friendly and service was great too!

Meli Melo, Greenwich CT, Delicious savory & sweet crepes. I love the   Avocado, shrimp, lemon, dressing served on a buckwheat crepe. My kids love Ham and swiss cheese crepe and nutella & strawberry crepe. They also have a yummy fresh juice bar. They are based in Greenwich, CT


Cleaning Eating (with Alice)

I am passionate about all things food and fitness!

I do believe in clean eating. For 3 months Christopher and I ate clean and my lifestyle changed dramatically for the better; I had more energy, my body transformed, my problem areas were no longer a problem. I truly felt superb inside and out. I am not a nautral chef and with two young kids, two dogs I soon learned to eat clean it is all about meal planning.  A great friend recommended Alice Liveing to me and I adore her instagram and IG stories, she is bubbly and very inspiring.

Alice is also a personal trainer at Third Space London they have 3 locations in London.

I am going to reset starting today and have a goal to eat clean every day.
